In October 2016, the Texas A&M University president inaugurated the President’s Sustainability Advisory Council.
Now known as the University Sustainability Advisory Committee (USAC), the committee is charged with formulating strategy to foster and promote sustainability throughout the university community.
The primary functions include:
- Oversee sustainability goals and strategies to integrate sustainable practices in all areas of the campus and coordinate with the Office of Sustainability & Campus Enrichment
- Monitor A&M performance using the Sustainability Tracking Assessment Rating System (STARS) tool
- Facilitate campus implementation of the Sustainability Master Plan – Sustainability focus areas:
- Energy and Greenhouse Gas Reduction
- Campus Mobility
- Stormwater Management
- Built Environment and Site Design
- Education, Outreach and Engagement
- Pedagogy, Research and Innovation
- Administrative Support
- Social Sustainability
- Waste Management
